Looks like every young girl in Hollywood just wants to fit in Katniss Everdeen's shoes (fictional lead character from The Hunger Games Trilogy). Entertainment Weekly reports that almost 30 actresses are in it to compete for the role.

Kick-Ass star Chloe Moretz said that she would "die" for the role after she learned that Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) had her "fingers-crossed" to land the part of Katniss. Other actresses who are up against Moretz and Steinfeld are Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone), Saoirse Ronan (Hanna), Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), Emma Roberts (Wild Child), and Skins actress Kaya Scodelario.

As a big fan of The Hunger Games, I do think that casting for Katniss is indeed a crucial task because it can make or break the film. You do not want to disappoint the fans, believe me. Director Gary Ross have not made any decision yet on who will be the perfect Katniss but Hailee Steinfeld did say that she already met up with Ross but Variety reports that Jennifer Lawrence had "generated most interest."
However that may be true, I don't think Lawrence will fit the description of Katniss, plus, she looks so much older. I did choose Browning before but now that Steinfeld is in the picture, I really think she would be great for the part. But I say good luck to everyone who tried out for the role and whoever shall be chosen will definitely make it big (if she does justice to the part, that is).
